Human Remains Found in Franklin County Field Under Investigation

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ga. — Local and state investigators are working to identify human remains discovered last week in a field near Martin.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office said Monday, Aug. 31, that the remains were found Wednesday, Aug. 26, in a field on the north end of the county.

The remains have been turned over to the Franklin County Coroner as investigators work to determine the identity of the deceased.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has also been called in to assist with the investigation.

According to the sheriff’s office, there is currently no evidence that the public is in danger. Investigators also said there is no evidence of foul play at this stage of the investigation.

The remains have not yet been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing.
