HABERSHAM COUNTY, Ga. – The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal vehicle-pedestrian collision that occurred early Saturday morning on Tom Born Road in the Hollywood community of Habersham County.

According to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, a driver contacted 911 after their vehicle struck what they initially believed was an object in the roadway. The driver then realized the object was a person.

Habersham County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Habersham County Emergency Services personnel were dispatched to the area at approximately 12:49 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12.

Responders located a deceased individual at the scene and notified the Georgia State Patrol and the Habersham County Coroner’s Office.

The collision occurred on Tom Born Road, just off Ga. 15.

The identity of the deceased individual and additional details surrounding the collision were not immediately released. Officials said all further information should be obtained from the Georgia State Patrol.

The investigation remains ongoing.

The fatal collision occurred just hours after another pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Hollywood. Shortly before 5 p.m. Friday, a woman was struck and injured while walking her dog on Talmadge Drive.
