ATLANTA – Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced today that a home fire in Stephens County killed one victim.
On January 6th at 11:55 a.m., a passing driver reported a possible woods fire on Oak Valley Lane in Toccoa. A second caller reported a residential structure fire on the same road, with a possible resident inside the home.
“When fire officials arrived on scene, they found the residential structure fully engulfed in flames,” said Commissioner King. “Upon extinguishment, a victim, identified as an 87-year-old woman living by herself, was found in the living room of the residence. The cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.”
