WHITE COUNTY, Ga. – On October 7, 2023 around 11:00 am, White County Sheriff’s Office deputies observed a Penske box truck traveling on Hwy 115 East, headed westbound.
The rear of the box truck was open and various household items, including furniture, were falling out of the truck.
Deputies attempted to stop the truck but the offender refused to stop and fled from deputies. The offender forcefully rammed one patrol car, disabling it.

At one point during the pursuit, on Helen Highway, the offender attempted to run over a deputy with the truck.
Deputies then fired their weapons at the offender, hitting him in the arm, but the offender continued to flee.
Cleveland Police Department also became involved in the pursuit and deputies were eventually able to wreck the offender in the parking lot of Jack P Nix Elementary School.
The offender, Alan Paul Heinze of Cleveland, age 53, was taken into custody and transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for his injuries.
No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident. Heinze is charged with multiple charges including Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer.
