GILMER COUNTY, Ga. – A man was arrested Thursday after deputies responded to a report of a person exposing himself to passing motorists at a Gilmer County Dollar General.
According to the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched after receiving a report that a man was mooning passing vehicles.
When deputies arrived, they found a shirtless man wearing sweatpants and no shoes in the store’s parking lot. The man was reportedly pouring a bag of charcoal over his head.
Witnesses told deputies that, before their arrival, the man had allegedly walked and laid in the roadway, exposed himself to passing motorists, struck or slapped vehicles, attempted to pull road signs from the ground, knocked over the store’s mailbox, threw pool noodles around the area and took bottled water.
He also allegedly threw charcoal around the parking lot and toward vehicles and yelled at people inside the store.
According to the sheriff’s office, employees became concerned and locked the store’s doors.
Deputies arrested the man on multiple charges, including theft by shoplifting, public indecency, destruction of a mailbox, disorderly conduct, pedestrian on roadway, littering and simple assault.
The sheriff’s office reported that the charcoal was valued at $9.25 and the water at $4.50.
