Authorities Investigate Gunfire Between Two Groups at Elbert County Apartment Complex

ELBERT COUNTY, Ga. – Authorities are investigating a shooting incident at a Sunny Brook Apartments complex in Elbert County after multiple 911 calls were received Friday evening reporting gunfire.

According to the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and Elberton Police Department officers responded to the apartment complex after receiving several reports of shots being fired.

Investigators determined that a music video was being recorded at the location and that numerous people were present when two groups began shooting at each other, the sheriff’s office said.

One bullet entered through the wall of an apartment and lodged in an interior wall, according to authorities. No injuries were reported in the sheriff’s office’s account.

Investigators have collected video evidence and spent bullet casings as they work to identify those involved. Authorities are also working with a Georgia Bureau of Investigation gang investigator as part of the investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident or the identities of the suspects is asked to contact the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office tip line at 706-408-7311.
